Light Gives Heat

Over the last few years or so I have been sharing my love for Africa and its people by supporting an organization in Uganda I learned about through my old friend of mine, Annie. We came across the beautiful Suubi necklaces from Light Gives Heat(LGH) at an art fair in Wyandotte, Michigan a few summers ago. I think it was back in 2008. Time flies. These necklaces were so beautiful. I purchased one that day. It was amazing to know the money from the sale of the necklaces was going back to support the very women who crafted them.

I soon became a "Hope Spreader" and bought a kit of 20+ necklaces from LGH which I then began selling to co-workers, friends, and even customers at the pizzaria where I was working at the time. I also gave some away as birthday or graduation gifts. Everyone loved them, and the story behind them.

Over the years I have made dozens of purchases of Suubi necklaces from LGH and have loved supporting and promoting such an amazing group of people. Back a few years ago a girl I knew, Kirsten, even went to Uganda to volunteer and help with LGH's ministry/org. I have watched LGH grow and change, but their focus has always remained the same: to bring Hope.

I watched this video a while back that LGH produced about taking risks. It's short and you'll be challenged by it. I know I was. I am challenged to take risks in my life and follow wherever Jesus leads.
