tonight when i checked my email i had one from my dear friend theresa. she attached a beautiful song. [the words are below, i know it's kinda long. but i encourage you to read through it.]
Some lives begin by accident, so they say, so they say.
And some lives were never meant, so they say, so they say.
But I say to you, there are no mistakes, it's true.
For I gave My life to prove, that I wanted you.
I wanted you from the beginning of time, I wanted you and
I want you to know how glad I am that you're Mine!
You will be rejected sometimes in this life, but I chose you, selected you, making you Mine.
I wanted you, so I made you and called you to be Mine.
I wanted you and I want you to know that you're worth My own life.
I wanted you, and I still do. Some lives are not worth living for, so they say, so they say.
But the smallest of lives are worth so much more, so I say, so I say.
And I say to you, put down the lies, believe what's true,
what My heart already knew; that I wanted YOU.
I wanted you, so I made you and called you to be Mine.
I wanted you and I want you to know that you're worth My own life.
I wanted you, and I still do.
[from Songs of Ministry. I Wanted You. by Dennis Jernigan.]
as i listened to this song, i was perusing through old photos of the african babies i helped take care of last year. i almost began crying as i listened to the beautiful words of the song, and as i remember each of those pairs of helpless eyes i gazed into. this song fits their life exactly. they were abandoned, left in a field, on a doorstep. or in a garbage bin. they may have seemed like a "mistake" when their AIDS-stricken mother birthed them. but God knew what He was doing when he made them. and when He made me and you. God knew you before the beginning of the world. He loves you! "Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." Psalm 90:1,2
and then i was reading through a thank-you letter i sent out after i returned home from south africa. and this is what stuck out to me:
["My heart would break knowing the stories of how the babies came to us. Each one special, each one unique. Some were abandoned in the hospital just after being born. Some were left on a street corner, in a garbage dump, a public restroom, an open field, or on a doorstep. My heart goes out to each little one of them. While rocking them, I would gaze into their dark, little eyes, seeing in them their helplessness and dependency on me for their every need. I could also see my own reflection in their eyes and was reminded of my own helplessness and need to depend on God for all my needs. They showed me how to love with the deepest, most meaningful, and genuine love, as God does. I loved deeply and opened my heart fully. I let them in and these wee little babies taught me things about life, love, and God's purpose for me."]
so, you are important. God carefully created you. and has a beautiful plan in store for your life. stop letting those lies swirl in your mind. p, you matter. believe the truth He has given you. don't let your thoughts condemn or control you any more. I wanted you, and I still do. "By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything." 1 John 3:19,20
thank you Jesus for saving me. i love you so much!
